Dan and Phillipa Munday - Nepal

The KISC school, where Phillipa works as head of student support and admissions, serves international and local workers and volunteers, providing international style education for children ages 4-18. The school’s vision is focused on being living witnesses through excellent education, not least through the work that parents are enabled to do, thanks to the school’s existence. Without KISC, many families would not be able to come and serve in Nepal.

Dan is adviser to the Nepalese Association for Palliative Care, at the forefront of helping to develop a national strategy for palliative care – this is a new and emerging speciality in Nepal. His work includes research, evaluation and teaching.

It was during our first term in Nepal (1988-1991) that Dan first trained in anaesthesia. Returning to the UK he worked as a GP and then as a consultant in palliative medicine in Coventry community and at Myton Hospices. He also led palliative care research and education at Warwick Medical School.

We lived in the Warwick area for 18 years and are members of St Mark’s Church, Leamington Spa. Phillipa trained as a geography teacher, but mostly worked as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages. She is also trained to assess and support students with learning needs and has worked in community adult education. She was also responsible for children’s programmes.

Our sons Ben, James and Alasdair are married to Liz, Katie and Jess respectively. In December 2014 we became grandparents to Noah.

We share Church Mission Society’s values and love being part of a vibrant community that is serving in the name of Christ throughout the world in so many practical and exciting ways.
