I have now been in Uganda for just over seven months and I have been teaching in Kuluva for five. It has been an interesting challenge for the students and myself to get used to each other’s accent. In the classroom it has caused much hilarity when I misinterpret their words – and vice versa. However, this is changing as we are more familiar with each other now. It has been good to start to develop relationships with the students; however, just like with students in the UK, they vary in their motivation and attentiveness.
